Position: Head Coach
Description:
We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to safely lead our Summer Swim Team Program consisting of swimmers of all levels. In partnership with the Swim Team Coordinators, the Head Swim Coach manages the swim team and assistant coaches. The Swim Team Head Coach provides feedback on execution and direction during swim practice and swim meets, responds to incidents, and interacts with parents and participants. The Swim Team Head Coach provides a high level of customer service and ensures a safe and positive program environment. This is a part-time job with work after school beginning in May and work in the mornings after school ends up to the beginning of July.Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
– Responsible for attending all swim practices (afternoons beginning in May until end of school and mornings afterwards until end of season) and swim meets (1 practice meet, 5 competitive meets and the county finals meets).
– Responsible for providing feedback on execution and direction during swim practice and meets.
– Responsible for interacting and communicating with swim team parents by providing excellent customer service and responding to incidents.
– Provides for a safe and positive program environment.
– Responsible for opening/closing duties for shift worked.
– Excellent oral communication and organizational skills.
– Fun, friendly and courteous attitude.
– Responsible for scheduling and training of assistant coaches.
– Responsible for hands-on swimming skill development of all swim team participants.
– Responsible for development, scheduling and conducting all aspects of swim team practices.
– Responsible for coordinating various aspects of swim meets including, but not limited to, individual race participants, pre/post computer work, recording and posting of start times, and post-race ribbon distribution.
– Attends and participates in swim team social events and swim coaches’ meetings.
– Responsible for development of team spirit, using various motivational techniques.Required Qualifications:
– Competitive swimming background or competitive swim coach experience
– Possess current lifeguard and water safety instructor certifications (American Red Cross preferred), first aid/CPR certification, and American Swim Coach Association certification
– Professional and effective communication skills
– Ability to provide consistent, positive motivation in a technique-oriented swim program
– Enthusiasm in working with children and young adults
– Good computer skills – experience with both Team Manager and Meet Manager and web-based swim team management software
– Compensation commensurate with experience -
