Position Head Coach
Description Job Summary Under direction of the Recreation Manager, the Head Swim Team Coach’s primary responsibility is to coach the swim team by teaching swimmers in practice sessions, stroke development, proper and legal strokes per ASA rules, physical conditioning, proper race starts and finishes. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of individual and team goals; creating swim meet line-ups that are consistent with these goals: developing and implementing practice plans with the aid of the Assistant Coach and other HBCC coaches; maintaining team records and roster. Job Duties 1. Projects a positive image of self and HBCC at all times. 2. Responsible for the swim team program for the HBCC Mustangs 3. Develops team goals and strategies for a successful season. 4. Provides direction and leadership to the Assistant Coach. 5. Plans and runs every workout to help reach team and individual goals. 6. Attends all practices, meets from warm-up to the end of the meet, Hy-Tek training, ASA swim meetings, swim team events (outlined in swim calendar). 7. Works with Assistant Coach to assist swimmers in developing personal swim goals 8. Must be prompt in submitting swim meet results according to ASA guidelines and timelines, all championship entries, and maintaining up to date team rosters, times, and meet records. 9. Listens to parents’ concerns and issues with respect and works towards a win-win outcome – communicates with Recreation Manager to help resolve issues. 10. Performs other additional responsibilities as management assigns. 11. Understands and complies with all policies set forth in the HBCC Employee Handbook and displays professional behavior when representing the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs Swim Team. Qualifications • Minimum two-years coaching experience. • Minimum of three-years competitive swimming experience. • CPR certified. • Experience with using Hy-Tek software’s Team Manager and Meet Manger or the ability to learn and become proficient in these programs. • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Atlanta Swimming Association Rules and Regulations. Description

The Glen Abbey Gator Swim Team is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Head Coach. The team is a 100+ member competitive summer league swim team located in Alpharetta, Georgia.  The 2017 swim season will be the team’s 19th season competing in the Atlanta Swim Association Swim League.  The Gators have a wide variety of swimmers ranging from beginner to advanced (ages 4-18).

The Head Coach will be expected to:

  • Attend all dual meets (Generally on Mondays): There will be 5 dual meets and one Championship Swim Meet
  • Be available for at least 3 two-a-day practices
  • Organize a well thought out Swim Meet line up for each meet.
  • Communicate with other team prior to meet to discuss line-up, as well as day of meet to be sure line-up is complete and ready to create heat sheet.
  • Perform swim lessons and host clinics
  • Attend social events, outings, swim league meetings, league dance and swim team banquet
  • Help each swimmer achieve a high level of skill, while instilling a positive attitude, sportsmanship and fun atmosphere for the sport of swimming.
  • Motivate the team and individual players.
  • Adhere to the strategic plan that has been developed by Fitness Director and Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Strategic Plan includes but is not limited to the following: Implement a comprehensive seasonal plan for the summer, communication between parents, swimmers and coaches and other ideas that are set in place for each summer.

 

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Organizes safe and effective practice sessions and workouts.
  • Put in and remove lane lines and backstroke flags for practice.
  • Plan daily workouts.
  • Develop and delegate specific job tasks for assistant(s) coaching staff and JR. coaching staff.
  • Communicate with team through weekly eblasts and web communication.
  • Create Team Cheer.
  • Keep track of records and attendance of the team.
  • Communicates personal and program expectations to team parents and to individual players.
  • Develops a firm, fair and consistent discipline system for the team and for individual players.
  • Establishes a working rapport with, and is directly responsible to, the Aquatics Program Manager and the Swim Team Committee.
  • Work with the committee and Aquatics Program Manager to order and organize awards for the banquet and other end of the season wrap-up duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Program Manager.
